Check out Horseshoe Bay, Marble Falls, Burnet, and Kingsland, Texas USA!

Horseshoe Bay Lighthouse and Texas Hill Country

What is it about Marble Falls and the Highland Lakes that makes this gateway to the Texas Hill Country so captivating? Is it the sheer beauty of the rolling, tree-covered hills? Or is it the clear streams flowing into shining lakes? Could it be the enjoyable pace of life on the golf course or on the lake in the boat or on the deck with your feet propped up?

Marble Falls' name-in fact, its very existence-is rooted deeply in the fabled rock of the Texas Hill country. A 20-foot waterfall on the Colorado River over marble ledges gave rise to the name of the town.

Within the City of Marble Falls, population 5,000, are fine shops and restaurants as well as a "big city" quality HEB grocery store and a Wal-Mart Superstore. These stores, along with many other specialty shops, serve the needs of Marble Falls and all the communities surrounding the lakes. From its early 20th Century narrow fronted stores and stables, downtown Marble Falls has evolved into a blend of commerce suited for residents and visitors: galleries, clothing, antiques, book and thrift stores, as well as dozens more shops and offices that offer a myriad of goods and services.

The climate and beauty of the hills and lakes continue to draw thousands of visitors each year to enjoy the many recreational and cultural opportunities located here, or to just relax in the quiet of nature. Situated only 80 miles north of San Antonio and 50 miles west of Austin, this area of the Texas Hill country is a world apart.

The Upper Highland Lakes, encompassing Lakes Buchanan, Inks, LBJ and Marble Falls, have become a destination resort for sports enthusiasts of every type. Lake Buchanan is a fisherman's dream, with trophy-sized bass, catfish, crappie and perch. Thousands of visitors enjoy family camping, touring the vineyards at Fall Creek, or spotting bald eagles on the Vanishing Texas River Cruise.

The Inkbridge

Lake LBJ is one of the few lakes in this area where you can own the shoreline, allowing waterfront homes to have boathouses with electric lifts just a few feet from their back door. Lake LBJ is a "pass through" lake, one designed to pass the water through and not to be used as a water reservoir. This means the water level does not change with the changing demands of downstream water users.

On all four of the Upper Highland Lakes, sports enthusiasts can enjoy power boating, sailing, water skiing, jet skiing, swimming, diving, sunbathing and fishing…and there's time enough and lake enough to fit it all in.

If the lakes aren't enough to whet your appetite, the seven beautiful year-round golf courses within a 20 miles radius might entice you to the area. Included in this list are 54 holes of Robert Trent Jones' finest work at fabulous Horseshoe Bay.

The Signature Hole at Slick Rock Golf Course

Add to this list the championship tennis facilities, scenic horseback trails, and some of the best hunting and fishing in all of Texas, and you'll see why Marble Falls is such a great place to live.

Quality health care is available throughout the Highland Lakes anchored by the Seton Highland Lakes Medical Center in Burnet and the Llano Memorial Hospital in Llano. Existing physicians are expanding their practices and new doctors are arriving, including many specialists. In addition, Scott and White Hospital in Temple operates a medical clinic in Horseshoe Bay.

With more than 80 area churches welcoming visitors and newcomers alike, the Highland Lakes area is founded on the rock-steady principles central to its citizens.

Those who visit the area soon find that people are the real reason that this area is so captivating. Newcomers are warmly welcomed and quickly blend into the community. Because most residents were newcomers not too long ago, they understand how to open their hearts and their homes to those who are moving here now. With many open events golf foursomes and groups are easy to join. Special interest guilds, social and service organizations are always looking for new members. You can be as busy as you want to be, and as quickly as you want to be-unless, of course, you don't want to be.

What a wonderful mix of fabulous resorts and rustic fishing camps, of spectacular waterfront and golf course homes, or modest weekend cabins and comfortable homes await you-"for a weekend or a lifetime."

Real Estate Tips
Working With An Agent >Listening To Your Needs

Some buyers purchase the exact kind of house they said they were looking for, in the neighborhood they preferred. Other buyers surprise us by falling in love with a house that is the complete opposite of what they originally wanted.

Real estate agents listen carefully when buyers describe their needs and preferences. We screen our current inventory of homes to come up with possible matches. Since there is almost always some compromise involved when selecting a home, we may suggest alternatives that might work for buyers.

If you like a specific neighborhood where there are no homes in your price range, we may suggest homes in other areas with similar amenities. If you want four bedrooms, and one of them will be used as a home office, we may look for a den or family room that could serve your needs. When you look at houses, remember that your feedback is important to us--and it won't hurt our feelings.
